The collection at the Remembrance Service in Exbourne raised £130 for the Royal British Legion.
The Remembrance Service for Exbourne and Jacobstowe on Sunday, November 14 began with a short service at Exbourne Methodist Church.
A lesson was read by Rod Lane and the organist was Margaret Weeks. This was followed by a procession to the war memorial at St Mary’s Church.
The Royal British Legion banner was carried by Lara Walker and the Processional Cross by Tim Hawkins. The list of the fallen of Exbourne was read by Bill Sutton Coulson, who then laid a wreath.
The names for Jacobstowe were read by by Lt Col Duncan Machie, who also laid a wreath. A wreath was also laid on behalf of the parish council by Cllr Stephen Blakeman. The Last Post and Reveille were sounded by James Hordern followed by the two-minute silence.
The service continued in church with a very moving poem ‘One thousand men are walking’ read by Margaret Brady.
Dr Michael Winter conducted both services and the organist at St Mary’s was Maurice Coates.
