The intrepid walkers will be raising money by sponsorship, and a design competition is also being launched to make young people aware of ELF?s work.
A ?You Design It, They Wear It? challenge has already been issued to all primary schools in the catchment area of the heamatology centre of the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, which includes Mid and West Devon.
The three retired teachers need a special sweatshirt to wear on the challenge and schools have been invited to design a sweatshirt based upon the theme ?age is opportunity?.
Thirty ELF fleeces with the winning logo on the front and the school name on the back will be presented to the winning pupils by ELF patron, Noel Edmonds. All schools entering will win an ELF cuddly toy.
Schools who want to get involved or anyone who would like to find out more about sponsoring the walkers can contact the ELF office on 01392 493344.
l A charity ball to raise funds for the Exeter Leukaemia Fund is being held at Powderham Castle next month.
The second charity ball held by the group takes place on Friday, March 28, and will raise funds to maintain support for sufferers through improvements to the stem cell laboratory, an X-ray viewer and other equipment for the haematology unit at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.
The Exeter Leukaemia Fund exists to ensure the best treatment is available for patients from the surrounding area who are referred to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.
The fund has to raise around £350,000 each year to maintain its support for suffers of a disease which continues to grow more quickly in the South West.
For more information about the charity ball telephone 01392 493344.
