CHILDREN will be flying their own hand-made aerial puppets at Calstock Festival next month thanks to a £500 grant for a circus arts project.
Workshops, which started this week, will be run at Calstock Primary School by Cirque du Ciel (Circus of the Sky) which is a children's circus charity based in West Cornwall.
A well as making and flying puppets, children aged from 9 to 15 will be walking tall on stilts and riding unicycles. Sixteen children have already signed up to the project.
The funding is from FEAST which helps art projects in Cornish villages and towns.
Calstock Festival runs from June 3 to 6. This will be the 21st festival and a team of local volunteers have put in a huge amount of effort to make it special, from the line up of bands through to the all new comedy night from Jammy Cow Productions.
There will also be performances from Little Beat junk bands and Cirque du Ciel.
