THE annual five-legged race for Children in Need around Okehampton takes place on Friday November 18, with organisers encouraging teams to enter.

Organised by Okehampton Round Table, the event involves teams of four, tied at the ankles throughout, visiting each participating pub in Okehampton. At least one team member must consume a drink at each pub.

Awards will be handed out to teams finishing first in the men's, women's and mixed categories. Each team must obtain sponsorship or pay an entry fee, with the team that raises the most money also winning a trophy.

James Stevens, secretary for Okehampton Round Table, said: 'It's a fantastic team event which is great fun, and serves a great purpose, raising funds for Children in Need.

'It's very much an annual event in Okehampton now which people look forward to, but we're always looking to encourage more people to join in.'

Registration for the race starts at 6.45pm from the Plymouth Inn.
