RESIDENTS enjoyed a day of fun and dressing up when they took part in a five-legged race for Children in Need last week.

The event, which was hosted by Okehampton Round Table, saw 14 teams dressed in fancy dress start from Okehampton College and race to all the pubs in town, finishing at The Fountain Inn.

The event, held on Friday, November 20 raised a total of £1,129.

Categories included winning teams for the first ladies, the first men, the first mixed men and women and the first business.

Fancy dress prices went to the best dressed ladies, best dressed men, best dressed mixed men and ladies, most outrageously dressed and most originally dressed.

Organiser and member of Okehampton Round Table Joe Endacott said the evening was a great success: 'Everyone had a really good time and the weather was okay, too.

'We are really pleased with the amount raised and everyone put in a lot of effort with their fancy dress.

'In particular I would like to thank St John Ambulance, who volunteered their services for free and to Waitrose for supplying the prizes.'

The team who raised the most sponsor money was Karen's Generations, who raised £317.
