THE Rotary Club of Yelverton celebrated success recently in the Youth Leadership Awards.

The Yelverton club sponsors young persons between the age of 18 and 28 each year to enter the annual Rotary Youth Leadership Award residential course.

The course comprises an intensive programme of outdoor activities and tasks aimed at building individual skills, along with a series of projects and lectures from eminent high-achieving members drawn from the South West community.

The object is to inspire and develop the confidence and ability of young people to teach them to become leaders in their communities and to plan for themselves interesting and useful lives.

This year’s candidate from the Yelverton club, Ines Beveridge from Whitchurch, successfully completed the course and delivered a confident 20 minute talk without notes to club members at their weekly meeting.

Ines explained in detail the many aspects of her achievements from the course and the information and knowledge she has gained from the various speakers.

She said how grateful she was to the Yelverton Rotary Club for her sponsorship.

Ines has recently completed studies at Devonport High School for Girls and has gained placement at Bristol University to read economics.

Rotary club members were very impressed with the response from Ines and congratulated her on her success both on the course and on her speech to the club.
