NORTH Tawton Rugby Club has started pre-season training, after achieving joint second place on points in last season's league table.

The club has outlined its plans to be successful in the new league this year, which covers the North East of the county, with clubs from Totnes, Exeter Honiton and Ilfracombe area.

Training itself will concentrate on condition and fitness to start, with Colin Sharp as fitness trainer, but combined with ball-based activities as much as possible.

The focus will fall more sharply on skills development as training gets under way. The club has a number of specialist coaches coming into the frame this year, with player coach Paul Turner joining North Tawton from Wessex Rugby Club and Pete Hill leading as his role as senior coach.

All current players are asked to attend, but the club would like to welcome any new members to come along.

North Tawton RFC is aiming for a bright future but a good turnout at training is the basis of success on the field.

Training nights are Tuesday and Thursday starting at 7pm.
