Plough Sunday was marked in Sampford Courtenay last Sunday with a service in St Andrew’s Church and the blessing of a plough in The Square outside afterwards.
The Rev Rita Bullworthy, who took the service, said: ‘It was very well attended and there were several farmers in the congregation, which was good. The choir was there and the plough which is blessed is the last hand plough in the parish. The whole service is about blessing the plough, the wheat and barley for the coming year. We had two tractors along too.’
