PUPILS at Lifton Primary School enjoyed a wonderful week of Green Science activities recently, including creating wormeries, making a willow house, investigating solar energy and other renewable energy sources, sustainability, recycling, and gardening projects.
The older pupils visited the Eden Project and were treated to a behind the scenes look at running the business.
The children also looked at ways of saving energy and set up a new school 'Eco Council', whose members will be responsible for checking that lights are not left on and finding ways to make the school community a more sustainable one.
The highlight of the week was a visit from Dick Strawbridge, of BBC TV's 'It's Not Easy Being Green'.
He showed children, staff and parents how some of the things the children had investigated during the week could be put to practical use, including how solar energy can be harnessed, how composting toilets work, and how wind and water turbines generate electricity.
