EXPERTS from the world of film and television special effects gathered to watch Bondleigh sculptor Andrew Sinclair at work during a unique event. 

Andrew, 52, who runs The Sculpture School in Bondleigh, was a star attraction at The Prosthetics Event in Birmingham.

The sell-out event, which attracted 800 people, was designed to give people interested in special effects art a chance to see the top names in the industry at work outside of London.

Experts in body painting and special effects held demonstrations to an audience of professionals and students from the prosthetics world.

They were complemented by models dressed as aliens, mutations and monsters that had been created during the event.

Andrew said: 'It was a fantastic day and it was packed but I was genuinely honoured that so many visitors gravitated to my stand to watch me sculpt a human hand and a foot. They seemed fascinated by the way I worked.'

The event was organised and hosted by Neill Gorton, founder of Millennium FX Ltd, who said: 'It was fantastic having Andrew at the event.

'Prosthetics rely on sculpture for their creation but there's very little formal training in anatomical sculpture going on in the schools and colleges that teach prosthetics.

'Andrew's technical and artistic skills, and his fantastic ability as a teacher, made him the first person I thought of when trying to bring these two worlds together. Judging by how busy his stand was I clearly got the right man.'
