OKEHAMPTON Cycle Club riders were out in force last Sunday with six members taking part in a 25-mile time trial hosted by North Devon Wheelers on the A377 road course starting from Chulmleigh to Copplestone and back.
In dry and sunny conditions a large field of 41 cyclists took part and despite some poor road surfaces club members met with success by taking three prizes.
Steve Sage finished third overall, with an average speed of more than 25 miles per hour, to achieve a time of 59.58, just 36 seconds behind the second placed rider and 1.38 behind the winner.
Brian Dixon clocked 1.02.23 to take second place in the veteran 40 to 49 age group with Jacky Rice picking up the prize for the first lady finisher with a time of 1.12.29.

Last Thursday saw the sixth event of the club's summer time trial series. Steve Podd achieved the best time of the night clocking 30.31 and Jacky Rice came second with 33.40.

Well done to Andy Crock on his first attempt and to Louise Amery who despite having a puncture on the start line recovered to put in a commendable time.
