MEAVY Primary School were the victors at the successful Quad Kids athletic event, held at Tavistock College last week.
The competition saw children from throughout West Devon compete in four events — the standing long jump, vortex throw, 75 metre sprint and the 600 metre run.
School sports co-ordinator at Tavistock College Holly Rippon said the day was enjoyed by all involved, despite the drizzle.
Miss Rippon also paid tribute to the young leaders from year 9 at Tavistock College, who took on a wide variety of duties during the day, even making sure the car parking functioned properly.
She said: 'The event couldn't have run without them, they were fantastic, they did really well.
'I'd also like to thank Keith Reed, the Quad Kids co-ordinator, and his wife Jane, who did all the scoring and timing.'
The primary schools taking part in last week's event were from Meavy, Lamerton, Okehampton, Lew Trenchard and Whitchurch.
The top athletes from the Tavistock event will go on to compete against the best performers from the Ivybridge area, with the ultimate aim of taking part in a competition at county level.
