Millbrook 0

Tavistock 3

THE Lambs' good start to the season continued with this comfortable victory. They remained unchanged from the previous Saturday and had the home side on the back-foot from early on - Jeff Babb and Paul Smith saw shots fly over the bar before they took the lead after 13 minutes.

Smith's corner kick to the far post was met by defender Darren Babb to head home. Millbrook's Ray Clark shot weakly at Andy Meeds and Matt Cusack saw his effort go past Meeds' post.

The Lambs increased their lead ten minutes before the interval when Smith's corner floated in to deceive everyone and go direct into the net. Mark Wall and Lee Beer then saw efforts go over the bar prior to the interval.

The Lambs continued their dominance after half-time but could not convert chances into goals. The home side had a purple patch midway through the second half and threatened to score, but the game was sown up with the third set-piece of the night. Sub Steve Brownlow was sent tumbling in the area for Smith to step up and get his second of the night and the Lambs third for a good evening's display.

LANGSFORD Park observed a minute's silence in memory of murdered schoolgirls Holly and Jessica prior to the game.

The Lambs went into the game as favourites after the previous two opening games, but came up against a stout Clarets defence.

It was a hesitant start for the Lambs and they could have found themselves a goal down in the early stages, but Paul Smith saw a chance go wide before the visitors went ahead in fortunate circumstances. James Turner's cross deceived Andy Meeds and the keeper seemed to stumble as he tried to get back but the ball was over him and in the net.

The second half was minutes old as Jeff Babb headed just wide then Lee Doncaster did well on the by-line to turn in a cross that Steve Daymond rattled against a post.

The visitors then hit their second goal and again fortune favoured them. Dan Roger's shot was blocked by Mark Wall, but the ball then fell between defenders Nathan Blamey and Darren Babb for Rogers to step forward and coolly place it wide of Meeds.

Launceston retreated into defence and the Lambs bombarded them with everything. Daymond shot at the keeper, Darren Babb had a header cleared off the line and sub Simon Parnell shot over from six yards after Wall had set him up.

In the end a frustrating afternoon for the Lambs with nothing working out right for them.
