TAVISTOCK Methodist Church resounded to stirring brass band music, lively vocals and patriotic singing from the floor and balcony recently.

Stannary Brass Band, Vocal Harem and soloist Kate Walker, performed at a proms concert hosted by broadcaster and band patron Angela Rippon.

The enthusiastic audience sang and waved their flags, which included the Tavistock town mayor Cllr Harry Smith and his wife Mary, and deputy mayor Cllr Sue Bailey.

Stannary Brass Band's next concert in Tavistock will take place on Saturday, December 6 at 7.30pm at Tavistock Town Hall. Advance tickets will be available from the Ward and Chowen offices. Once again Angela Rippon has agreed to give her support to the concert — other special guests include the Kingsmen Harmony Chorus.
