THE First World War commemorations this year have produced a reflective mood in the country and this, together with the centenary celebrations of the Women's Institute in 2015, have prompted the Lewtrenchard WI to collate a recipe book.
The WI members are compiling a book of recipes from members and local residents from Lewdown, Lewtrenchard, Stowford and Thrushelton.
The book is being compiled as a commemorative snapshot of life in the villages 100 years after a war that changed the world forever.
The WI was created to encourage rural women to get together, socialise and generate a sense of vitality and life in quiet country communities.
It also had a larger role in becoming involved with the vital task of producing food for the country during the war.
The WI is now looking for businesses or individuals to help fund the recipe book project.
