GOOD-hearted members of Okehampton Round Table served up a real tasty treat for some grateful young walkers on Friday.

Children from Bidwell Brook School, Dartington near Totnes were taking part in the Jubilee Challenge as part of the Ten Tors when, after a long trek that day in awful weather conditions, they were given a welcome portion of fish and chips and a refreshing drink by Round Table members.

Okehampton Round Table member James Stevens said: 'The weather was terrible but the children seemed delighted when they received their meal.

'We also provided a meal for the children's teachers, who seemed equally pleased with a hot meal that they didn't need to cook on a gas stove!'
