TAVISTOCK Athletic Club members enjoyed taking part in the Bere Pen 10 race. The race was organised by Bere Alston Trekkers, with Dotty Allan as race director, and it was to prove a real community effort, with Cubs manning water stations and making the distance signs for each kilometre and the carnival committee serving delicious refreshments.

The views across the Tamar more than made up for 'all those mountains', as one puffed competitor put it. Twenty-two TAC runners took part, with four – Bryony Fordam, David Ruffell, Donna Stacey and Lisa Mabey – all running their first race for the club.

TAC times: Adam Holland 39 minutes, 40seconds. Sharon Dawe (second lady) 44.26, Pete Bazley 44.50, Rebecca Mingo (fourth lady) 46.19, David Twine 46.31, Trevor Williams 50.11, Andy Houghton 51.01, John Bills 52.15, Robert Kirby 52.58, Andrew Alcock 55.02, Hannah Colston 57.09, Lisa Mabey 57.09, David Ruffell 57.26, Team Pitcher – Claire and Adrian 57.47, Sheila Houghton 59.16, John Windermer 59.19, Donna Stacey 60.44, Bryony Fordham 62.07, Helen Alcock 63.06, Jackie Ralph 67.48. Ann Woodhouse 70.16.

Congratulations to Dotty and the Bats for staging this friendly event.
