ELEVEN-year-old Ellie Veale is Tavistock Carnival’s Princess this year.

Ellie and her attendants Angel Holland, eight, and Daisy Swift, seven, were chosen by judges Paul Blowey, incoming president of tavistock Lions, Lion Alei Lynch and Carol Simpson, general manager of the Tavistock Times Gazette, which jointly sponsored the competition with Lawsons of Tavistock.

The girls will make their first appearance at the baby show in the Parish Rooms on Saturday, July 9 and will be officially crowned the following day at 3pm during the fun day in the Meadows.

On the following Saturday, they will lead the carnival procession, the theme for which is ‘The Road to Rio’,  through the streets of Tavistock.

Mr Blowey thanked the judges for their help with a very difficult task and also the sponsoring companies for their continued support.
