A TAVISTOCK landlord is warning fellow town traders to beware of a man who attempted to pass off £50 notes in the town this week.
Tony Fey, the landlord of the Tavistock Inn on Brook Street, said the man tried to pay with his drink with a Scottish £50 note last week but when his note was queried he immediately left the premises. He described the man as about 5 feet 8 inches tall, in his late 20s, of normal build who spoke with a southern Irish accent.
Mr Fey immediately informed other licensees in the area and advised any other traders in be wary of anyone offering to purchase goods or services with Scottish or Irish £50 notes.
