A 38-year-old Tavistock man has been remanded in custody to appear at Plymouth Crown Court on Monday (May 18) charged with importing a prohibited weapon and possession of a firearm.
It follows a search warrant carried out at a property in the Whitchurch Road area of Tavistock on Monday morning (May 11). This took place after a package was intercepted by the UK Border Agency at Birmingham Airport earlier this month.
John Nolan of Anderton Lane appeared at Exeter Magistrates Court on Wednesday via a video link and was charged with two offences relating to importation of goods with intent to evade prohibition and possession of a firearm during a five-year period following a suspended sentence.
Due to the seriousness of the charges the case was adjourned to the Crown Court.
