Tavistock Rotary Club raised a total of £1,300 for ShelterBox during a collection at Morrisons recently.
Led by club member David Glover, who is one of ShelterBox’s principal UK ambassadors, the team raised the large sum of money from Morrisons’ customers — more than enough to provide a complete ShelterBox.
Since 2000, ShelterBox has grown into a worldwide organisation whose teams are amongst the earliest to respond to natural and man-made disasters throughout the world.
Tavistock Rotary Club president Graham Parker said: ‘Once again the people of Tavistock have shown their generosity and we offer our heartfelt thanks. Compared to the grief and misery that people in the Caribbean and Bangladesh are experiencing, our fundraising might seem to be a drop in the ocean. But we know that there are thousands of other Rotary clubs in every continent doing exactly the same and together we really do make a difference. I also want to thank Helen, Tracy and the team at Morrisons — they always support ShelterBox magnificently when they are needed.’
