TAVISTOCK’S Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team was called out on Monday to assist with a search for a missing man.
The team was called up at 3.50pm by the Okehampton search and rescue team to assist in the search for a 59-year-old man deemed to be high risk in and around Chulmleigh.
The man has abandoned his vehicle nearby in the early morning and had not yet been located. The callout was a multi-agency operation including the search and rescue teams from Tavistock, Okehampton and Ashburton, search dogs from the Search and Rescue Dogs Association England, Exmoor search and rescue team, members of the police and urban search and rescue.
After an extensive ten hour search of woodland and farmland, the Tavistock team was stood down shortly before the missing man was located, outside of their search area, cold and wet but otherwise unharmed.
