SEVEN-year-old Aria Roberts has been announced as Tavistock Sensory Garden’s Twelve Days of Christmas competition trail winner and received her prize of a £15 Tavistock Gift Card.
Another busy year in the sensory garden came to an end with a successful Carols in the Garden on December 17 supported by The Edge singers and the Twelve Days of Christmas competition trail for children aged 11 and under which ran between Boxing Day and January 6.
The simple trail comprised twelve wooden plaques designed by garden trustee Annette Sharpe each depicting the items in the popular Christmas carol. The plaques were hidden in the garden and children simply had to find the plaques and mark their location on a map which also acted as their entry form.
Aria Roberts is a pupil at Tavistock Primary School and with her mother Sophie walks through The Meadows most days and often the sensory garden on their way home. Aria was delighted with her prize which she received from Chair of the Tavitsock Sensory Garden Trustees Richard Jones last week.
The team of volunteers have already been working in the garden removing the Christmas tree and tidying up leaves and debris from the overhanging trees.
Within a few weeks the first signs of Spring, the yellow of daffodils and purple crocuses, will start appearing throughout the garden helping to lift everyone’s hopes for a brighter 2022.
