TEXTILES, paint, sculptures, prints and photographs depicting Tavistock’s mining heritage adorned the walls of Butcher’s Hall last week, in the first Guildhall Open Art Exhibition.
Artists from West Devon and across the South West created a variety of pieces depicting their take on the Tavistock mining heritage brief for the exhibition, organised to celebrate the start of the Guildhall Gateway Centre project.
The exhibition was organised by Tavistock Heritage Trust in partnership with Tavistock Town Council as part of a number of activities to celebrate the start of the £1.5-million scheme to develop Tavistock’s iconic guildhall complex into a gateway centre for the Cornwall and West Devon Mining World Heritage Site.
The art included landscapes, abstracts, wall hangings and even a chair and was on the display to the public for four days.
