Tribute Devon two

North Tawton 17

New Cross 10

RIGHT from the start North Tawton took on the challenge of league leaders New Cross in this top of the table clash and, despite a rather curious finish, came out victorious.

David Fewings opened the scoring for the home side with a penalty while a try was contributed by Mike Young. Fewings' conversion gave Tawton 10 points while New Cross replied with a penalty of their own.

In the second half Lawrence McKone ran in another try for Fewings to convert. Fortunately the 17 points proved enough as three sin-bins against North Tawton players reduced their strength to 12 in the closing stages. The last also earned a penalty try against them to improve the New Cross score to 10 points.

The remaining players for Tawton played out of their skins to make up for their lack of numbers and earned a well-deserved win against previously unbeaten New Cross.

This ties the lead for the Tribute Devon two league, with North Tawton behind only on points difference.
