AFTER 21 weeks of supplying food to local families, the volunteers who staffed the Bere Peninsula Make Lunch food parcels project celebrated with a well earned cup of tea.

For more than five months, the team has delivered 206 parcels which have contained enough food to give 343 adult meals and 481 children’s meals.

The parcels have been well received and the team have had comments such as:

‘We have been overwhelmed by everything that you are all doing. You really are amazing’ and ‘thank you so much for all the help you have provided to my family over this troubled time. It really has helped us in so many ways you truly have no idea. My son gets excited every Sunday for what’s to come so it’s really kept us going’.

Lesley Wright, one of the Make Lunch organisers, said: ‘I really want to thank all the helpers for their hard work and to extend a special thank you to Morrisons for their generous weekly donations of food.’

The Make Lunch team has now stopped their deliveries as the local children are returning to school, but the Bere Peninsula Foodbank will be taking over for any family which would still appreciate support.
