MOUNT House fielded two teams in the Stover School U9 rugby tournament in Newton Abbot with both the A and B teams acquitting themselves well.
The B team won two of its four matches, playing some promising and exciting rugby.
An opening 0-5 defeat against St. Aubyn?s was followed by a good 15-0 win over Stover and a narrow loss to St. Peter?s, Lympstone.
The final match of the afternoon was a titanic struggle against Plymouth College which was settled in favour of Mount House by a single try.
During the tournament tries were scored by Scott Worthing, Freddie Morris and Edmund Fulford, while Nick Bennett?s tackling was an outstanding feature of a successful afternoon.
The A team won all of its four matches. Not content with defeating all opposition their tackling was of such a standard that no side scored a try against them.
The team?s results included wins over Trinity School (25-0), Kelly College Prep (15-0), Exeter Cathedral School (25-0) and the host school Stover (10-0). Leading try scorers were Ollie Sale, Danny Goldstone and Harry Woodhead while Fred Cave was the most prominent member of a solid looking forward line.
