U14 Raleigh ? Cup

semi-final

Tavistock Jets 5

Hooe Rovers 1

BOTH teams started with determined effort. Hooe gave away a free kick on the edge of the box and Tom Cambell blasted a great shot which struck the inside edge of the post to rebound across Hooe?s goal.

Adam Waddle managed to place the bouncing ball under control to slot over the line for Jets? first goal.

Hooe battled on but were thwarted by strong defending from Alan Doidge, Tom Kelly, Richard Goldsby-West and Miles Mcloughlin.

Jets were awarded another free kick on the edge of Hooe?s penalty box and Tom Scott drove a powerful shot over the wall and keeper to rattle the back of the net.

Jets? midfield of Tom Campbell, Bevan Bailey, Ed Hillson and Will Feather were gaining more control and kept the play well in Hooe?s half.

Alan Doidge, playing well in defence, provided a long ball over the Hooe defence which Waddle ran on to and lobbed the keeper on the half volley to place Jets 3-0 ahead.

Hooe gave away another free kick just outside their penalty area and Scott again struck a beautiful strong shot over the wall and keeper to give Jets a 4-0 lead at half-time.

The second half progressed evenly with Jets preventing Hooe taking advantage of the strong wind. Keeper Shaun Daymond, played well reading the attacks to stifle out any Hooe attack before it became too dangerous. Hooe managed to grab one goal back from a shot which was deflected by a Jets player.

Jets kept the pressure on and had another goal disallowed. To ensure they gained their place in the final, Scott seized the ball 20 yards from Hooe?s goal and struck a perfect and powerful shot past the keeper.

U13s Hermes League

Tavistock Jets 6

Efford Youth 2

EFFORD took advantage of playing with the wind and broke free down the left to cross over for a striker to strike low into the net.

Jets? Simon Kelly sent in a cross to meet the head of Chris Bray who put away the equaliser.

High balls forward from Efford were bouncing over the defence but Andrew Derbyshire had an excellent game at centre back and chased everything.

Efford took the lead shortly before half-time when a long ball forward beat the offside trap and shot low into the net.

The second half was sluggish but constant battling in midfield by McColl and Tom Hammond kept the ball upfield. A great run by Sam Johnson saw Ashley Dobson take a corner and it was struck perfectly to sail into the top of the net.

Derbyshire found himself in space to take the ball up and shoot a blaster into the net. Ashley Doyle got in on the action with his first touch of the game when Bray crossed and Doyle managed to get his head to it to put Jets firmly into the lead.

After a fine through-ball by Hammond was latched onto by Doyle, who again slotted in, Efford dropped their heads and resorted to silly challenges. Dobson finished off the tally with another fine corner soaring into the net.

Man of the match: Euan McColl. Manager?s man of the match: Andrew Derbyshire.
