As the weather turns colder, Gunnislake Community Matters (GCM) group is offering the loan of a Thermal Imaging Camera to the householders of Calstock Parish.
The camera was purchased last year by GCM with a Cornwall Council Community Chest Grant, made available to the group by Cllr Dorothy Kirk to help residents identify heat loss in their home, and is available once again to loan this year.
The free to borrow camera captures heat images using colours to show hot, warm and cold spots.
Residents can use the camera in their homes to look for cold spots, and having found them, research if there is anything that can be done to reduce those spots, by, for example, increasing insulation or stopping draughts.
GCM hope that by identifying and reducing the cold spots this will result in lower heating bills for people and will lead to some environmental benefits.
The GCM Thermal Imaging Camera is available to all residents of Calstock Parish villages to borrow.
To book a date to hire the camera, and for more details, email: [email protected]
A copy of the ‘hire” agreement will then be sent to you.
A Camera User Guide has links to sites that give hints/ guidance for reducing heat loss.
