Okehampton

Argyle 3rds 2

Tedburn St Mary 0

ARGYLE were hoping for a victory after beating Awliscombe 6-2 last weekend, and were justly rewarded, bringing their points total to nine from the last three games.

Okehampton started well, Evans stealing the ball from the Tedburn kick-off and passing it to Spence. His shot rebounded to Evans who shot again, forcing Tedburn?s keeper to make a fine double save. Stepto launched strong runs down the right, linking well with Ditchburn, Hooper and Morgan.

During the first half, Okehampton created five or six good goalscoring opportunities. Their efforts were rewarded, when Evans hit a 35-yard shot into the top left hand corner of Tedburn?s net.

Tedburn tried a counter attack, but Argyle?s defence held strong. Monnox and Richard Eddy put in good performances, developing a number of runs up the left hand side.

In the second half Griffiths and Kinsey battled well in midfield, passing the ball wide on many occasions and again, most of the pressure was on the Tedburn goal.

Argyle?s defence dealt effectively with any Tedburn attacks, helping Jon Carter to his first clean sheet of the season.

Two tactical substitutions were made, Luxton for Griffiths, and Will Eddy for Hooper. On 85 minutes Spence was brought down in the area, and Evans converted the penalty with ease. Spence was injured in the challenge and was replaced by Yelland for the last five minutes.

Man of the match: Evans.

This week home to Honiton, kick-off 2.30pm.
