THE Mount House Girls' Hockey Tournament was held for the first time at The School, and was won by the hosts' first seven after an afternoon of excellent hockey, keen competition and good sportsmanship.

The Mount House U13 B side also acquitted themselves well, posting wins against several of the sides they met.

In the pool matches they beat Stover (2-0) and St Michael's B (8-0), drew 0-0 with both Truro and Blundell's Second VII.

In the quarter finals they beat St Michael's 1-0 and beat Truro 2-0 in the semi-finals. In the final they beat Blundell's girls by two goals to nil to become first winners of the tournament.

l The Mount House U11 and U10 hockey teams were involved in good matches against Stover School, winning one and losing the other.

Mount House U11s picked up the rapid pace of the game quickly, but were unable to score in the first half, despite playing the whole 20 minutes in their opponents' D. They were more assertive after the break and it became simply a question of how many they would win by. Goals were scored by Meaghan Ryder-Green, Rosie Luther, Tabitha Unsworth-White and Lizzie Fearnley in a convincing 4-0 victory.

In the U10s Ella Woolcock shone throughout the match as sweeper, feeding strong balls up the pitch and Georgie Morris dribbled, attacked and defended tirelessly.

It was an excellent performance from the girls but sadly not a winning result for Mount House, who were beaten 2-0.
