A FORMER student of Tavistock College, Melodie Holmes, has died suddenly from heart failure in Bristol, aged 28.

Melodie was the younger daughter of Kui and Mike Holmes, of Broadwoodwidger, and sister to Crystal.

She collapsed on January 26 while visiting a local leisure centre and the emergency services were unable to resuscitate her. Her funeral was held in Bristol on February 9, with family and close friends in attendance.

Melodie was born in Montreal, Canada, before her parents moved back to the UK, finally settling in Yelverton. She attended Meavy Primary School and Tavistock College, before studying for her BA degree in hospitality in Birmingham.

She lived in Bristol for the past six years, where she worked in several areas of the hospitality industry, latterly as an NVQ assessor, helping others gain qualifications.

She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Her parents said: 'Mel was a beautiful, happy and fun loving young lady who believed in living life to the full and always lived by this motto.'
