LESSON time at Bridestowe Primary for a young boy with hearing problems will be easier and more enjoyable from now, thanks to the Mary Budding Trust.
Kyle Piper is a Year 4 pupil at the school, and has hearing impairment. The charity has given £400 to purchase Kyle a new iPad, which helps him with his learning in school and at home. The school and charity consulted to ensure Kyle got exactly the equipment he needed.
Mike Brady, headteacher at Bridestowe Primary, said: 'The Mary Budding Trust made a massive contribution to the development of one of our profoundly deaf children, when they provided a laptop some years ago.
'That child, and technology, have moved on but I'm delighted to say that the Mary Budding Trust's objectives to support local special needs children remains the same.
'The significant contribution of an iPad and accessories for Kyle is very much appreciated.
'He absolutely treasures the machine and is so proud to tell us of the new resources he discovers to move his learning forward.
'The Mary Budding Trust has provided invaluable additional support.'
The Trust aims to support children with special needs aged eleven or under living in the West Devon borough, by providing grants or equipment.
The charity has helped children in the past by providing a wheelchair for a child, purchasing specialist hearing systems to help hearing impaired children attend mainstream schools, and providing specialist books for children with dyslexia.
Robin Hill from the Mary Budding Trust popped in to school last Thursday to find out how Kyle was getting on with his laptop.
Robin said: 'People who feel they could benefit from help from the Mary Budding Trust should definitely get in touch with us.
'There is money there to help people, and we want to help as many children as we can. The charity started in Tavistock but we also want to help as many children in the Okehampton area as possible. If you think the Mary Budding Trust could help your child or a child in your school, please contact us.'
