Lewdown v Yealmpton
LEWDOWN skipper Brenden Worth won the toss and asked Yealmpton to bat on a damp and drying wicket.
Lewdown bowled and fielded with good discipline, keeping Yealmpton to 2 an over throughout their innings. Wickets fell at regular intervals with Greg Sleep with 3 wickets, new boy Ed Jones with 4 wickets and Dave Ball 2 wickets with his spin. Yealmpton were bowled out for 109.
Ed Jones followed his fine bowling display with a fine unbeaten 59, and was ably supported by Greg Sleep with 31. Both applied themselves well to the conditions and brought Lewdown home to 19 points with 20 overs to spare.
New boy Ed Jones came highly recommended and definitely delivered in this game with 4 wickets and an unbeaten 50.
Lewdown were able to field a full strength team for only the second time this season, and will have much the same team for their next game away to local rivals Whitchurch. High flying Whitchurch will be eager for revenge after Lewdown inflicted their first defeat earlier in the season.
