CALSTOCK Footpath Society is inviting people to walk back to 200BC this Saturday, with a walk to the National Trust's Cadsonbury single ditch hill fort.
The society has arranged a heritage walk via the medieval Newbridge, following the river Lynher then ascending to the Cadsonbury single ditch hill fort dated 200BC to AD400. At the summit, besides enjoying 360 degree panoramic views, it will be possible to examine features of the fort and how it was constructed.
An extension to the walk re-crosses the Lynher, taking in Pencrebar and Frogwell hamlets. The distance is three and a half miles and there are two gradients which can be testing.
Anyone interested should meet at 10.30am this Saturday at a small car park below Cadsonbury. Strong shoes or boots are necessary and the walk is unsuitable for dogs.
A donation of £2 is suggested from non-members of the society. Due to limited parking, please contact 01822 833422 if wishing to take part.
