MEMBERS of the Salvation Army in Tavistock eagerly awaited the arrival of a man on an 18-month sponsored walk, last week.
Seventy-one year old Andy Peddle is walking across the UK to raise money for the Salvation Army's work for homeless people and victims of human trafficking and stopped off at the United Reformed Church in Tavistock last Wednesday.
Dressed in a top hat and tails, Andy visited the Salvation Army base in Tavistock as part of his 7,900-mile trek to most of the UK's Salvation Army churches, lifehouses and charity shops in a bid to raise £100,000 for the cause.
When he arrived in Tavistock, Andy was greeted with a cup of tea and cake before he gave a talk to members about his journey and the issues of human trafficking and homelessness.
