OKEHAMPTON joined the rest of Britain in paying its respects to the war dead over the remembrance weekend.

The remembrance parade through the town on Sunday included representatives from the Okehampton branch of the Royal British Legion and a number of other organisations in the town.

The town's remembrance service took place in All Saints Parish Church and wreaths were laid on the church's war memorial.

On Saturday, Okehampton Community Archive displayed the names of the people of the town who died during the First World War to mark the centenary anniversary since the beginning of the war.

Communities across the area took the time over the weekend to pay their respects to those who gave their lives to protect Britain's freedom.
