MAYOR of West Devon Caroline Mott is hoping to boost the coffers of her chosen charity this year with a golf day at Okehampton Golf Club on Friday, September 24.
Cllr Mott (pictured right) is supporting the Farming Community Network (FCN) which helps farmers and families within the farming community through difficult times.
Each year FCN helps roughly 6,000 people in the farming community with a wide range of issues â?? including financial difficulties, animal disease, mental health and family disputes.
This will be the first of many events Cllr Mott will be organising to support FCN and she is urging as many people as possible to sign up to play on the day.
The four ball, better ball event is for teams of four and there will be a bacon roll and hot drink included. There will also be a raffle and lots of prizes to be won.
Cllr Mott said: ’The last 18 months has had a big effect on people’s mental health particularly in the farming community.
’My husband is a dairy farming so I know how isolating the job can be. West Devon is a big farming community so hopefully we can raise as much money as possible to help people our community.’
