Okehampton Argyle Seconds 2
Silverton 1
SILVERTON have been scrapping for points to avoid relegation and were narrowly beaten by an in-form Bow side last week so it was no surprise to find them in a competitive mood.
Early play saw Okehampton pass the ball neatly and the visitors were under pressure against the slope in the first half.
Okehampton squandered early chances but were rewarded for their pressure when Colin Deacon stabbed home from close range from a Ben Woodhouse corner.
The second half saw Okehampton struggle to keep possession and as quickly as they gave the ball away Silverton pushed men forward looking for the equaliser. They got their rewards when their striker got in front of his marker to toe-poke home on the end of a fine right wing cross.
Silverton looked the more likely to score at this stage with Okehampton failing to make real chances. Richard Bailey in goal pulled off two fine saves to keep Okehampton in the game. Okehampton missed two easy chances before they were rewarded with a penalty with a goalbound header being handled on the line. Chris Wills picked his spot to give them the points. Okehampton?s remaining match against University is on Tuesday May 13, 6.30pm kick-off.
