THIS current weather has been some of the coldest in the last 25 years, with temperatures plunging to minus 10C. What has been obvious over this long cold period is the consistent absence of wind as an easterly high pressure has sat over us.
In a time when we all use a bit more electricity to heat the house, put the kettle on more often and perhaps turn on an electric blanket, I would like to know what benefit the proposed Den Brook wind farm would have been to the supply of the greater demand for electricity? As I look out over the windless, silent Den Brook Valley, I would imagine not a lot!
A consistent and full-time environmentally-friendly energy solution is required — not a part-time option that's found wanting when we really need it.
