THE annual tractor rally at Yelverton aerodrome raised more than £1,500 for three charities.
Around 60 vintage tractors were on display before touring the west of Dartmoor on a warm and sunny day. The good weather helped to bring a fantastic turnout of supporters who came to enjoy both the tractor rally and dog show, which was run in aid of the Mustard Tree Macmillan Cancer Support Centre.
Each year the event donates all proceeds to various charities and this year, the primary recipients will be The MS Society and The MS Trust, in support of the disease and in particular local families who are affected by it. The event raised over £1,500 in total, which will be split between the three charities.
The event is always well supported by locals and even those travelling from further afield, such as the former lifeboat tractor from Looe and Allis Chalmers from Holsworthy.
Stephen Horn, the event organiser, said he was pleased with the event in its nith year. ‘It’s incredible really as we have no formal committee, just enthusiastic people, who get together on the day and do whatever is asked and most importantly, with a smile on their faces.’
The event was a great success and greatly enjoyed by both the supporters and tractor enthusiasts who got to showcase their prized possessions in glorious weather and relish the chance to support such worthy causes.
