THE LITTLEMOOR gardeners came back from the Bratton Clovelly annual produce show on Saturday August 4 with a clutch of prizes. The young gardeners from Littlemoor Class at Boasley Cross Primary School won first prize for their carrots and brassicas, as well as six second prizes and two third places. Maggie Barrett of the Bratton Clovelly garden club, along with her husband Geoff, helped and encouraged the children to enter their vegetables. She said: ?Well done to everyone involved in growing the vegetables and to Angus and Evie in particular for displaying them.? The show, run by Bratton Clovelly WI, had an excellent range of vegetables entered into classes this year, in spite of the awful weather which has plagued gardeners over the last couple of months. The cup winners were: Maggie Brookes in the open vegetable section, Bob Brookes-Bliss in the local vegetable section, Brian Wonnacott in the flower section, and Angela Barrow for floral art. In the home produce competition, Caroline Miles was the winner, with Pat Vanstone as runner-up, while Margaret Wilson won the handicraft class, as well as the ?Matilda Pearce Plate? for the highest total of points gained across both the handicraft and the home produce competitions.
