PRIDE is set to hit Tavistock on Saturday, July 6.
Tavistock Pride Festival organisers have been busy getting everything set up and booked over the last couple of months, and they are set to offer a spectacular show.
They have been busy contacting small business in the hopes of flying the Pride flag outside of their shopfronts to show their support.
After the great success of last year’s festival, organiser Heg Brignall hopes to go even bigger this year.
The town comes to life during the festival, she said.
“There will be a parade at midday, with the police pride fronting it. It will be a vibrant big parade, taking the same route as last year.”
After the parade, the event will continue in the Meadows, where attendees are sure to be kept amused by a variety of interesting events and performances.
The mayor will be opening the event at 1pm, and will be joined by the Crooked Tempo Samba Band performing some Brazilian drumming.
Following that there will be a variety of choirs and drag shows.
The event will boast three separate stages, and will even have a dog show.
Some other events and activities booked in are urban street folk from Barcelona, yoga, tap dancing and a circus workshop in the family area.
Heg said: “One of the best things about this year is we have expanded the pride team. We have a host of talented individuals that offered to help for free.”
