Tavistock B 5

AFTER the rain last week, brilliant sunshine this week and a well deserved win for Tavistock B — their first of the season. With six forced changes due to unavailability and injury it was never going to be the easy to sustain the recent level of co-ordinated rhythm within their play. However, from the start the whole team put in a shift.

Throughout the first half Tavistock’s momentum improved as did their confidence. Staig and Bott controlled the central midfield and applied the necessary pressure to allow attacks from either flank. Buckeridge-Hobbs, playing his first league game of the season, found himself in the right position at the right time to score a superb hat-trick before half time.

It was not all one way though as the home team had breaks of their own, capitalising on some poor marking which led to Oxendale making some fine saves with both his hands and feet and in doing so, keeping his first clean sheet of the season.

Changes were made at the interval to allow Staig to go off due to an injury with Tanner moving into midfield. Further goals came — one more from Buckeridge Hobbs and one from Bott who chose his spot to score his first league goal of the season.

A fine club debut was made by Sam who fitted well into the structure of the team at the first time of asking. As always the team’s support base made a difference and many positives can be taken from this game.
