THE Bere Alston Trekkers were well represented at this weekend’s Mudcrew Roseland August Trail – a series of challenging coastal runs along the stunning South Cornwall Coastal Path.

It incorporated four different routes — 32 miles, 20 miles, 11 miles and 64 miles. All these routes follow the same part of coastline, with runners from different routes joining each other at different points along the way. Starting in Porthpean – it is not for the faint hearted.

Tackling the Black RAT (32m) this year were Murray Turner (7 hours 16 minutes 51 seconds), Derek Hicks (8.08.47), Julie Page (8.48.03), Lisa Birch (08.48.04), and Fran Morgan (9.51.47). The Red RAT was taken on by Martin Head (4.39.11/personal best of 35 mins), Marcia Macey (5.45.59), Hilary Head (6.23.40/PB of 1 hour 18 minutes), and Fiona Maddock (6.24.17). Solo BAT Sarah Cohen completed the White RAT in 2.51.44.

A trio of lady BATs took part in the inaugural Tavistock Tamar Trails 10K hosted by neighbouring Tavistock Athletics Club at AONB Tamar Trails.

Sarah Ann Bartlett ran a strong race, and finished third in her age group, with great results too for Debbie Ashton and Karin Kattenhorn. Official times were unavailable at the time of going to press.

The Northern outpost of BATs spent the weekend on tour in Dublin for the Rock and Roll series of races which saw the running of the half marathon and 10k races and a combined field of 10,000 runners on the start line.

BATs Andy Cowden finished the half marathon in a time of 1.47.38 and Angelo Apa running his first ever half finished in an excellent time of 2.21.33. Sara Apa ran in the 10k finishing really well in a time of 1.09.29.
