Bere Alston United 3

Torpoint 0

BERE Alston received their rewards this week as Torpoint had their first defeat of the season against a home side who harried and out-tackled them.

After 20 minutes Bere hit the upright twice and Alex Lowe followed up to score from the edge of the area. Bere's defence were in complete control with Gerald Lake handling the ball well between the sticks. From a keeper's punt up field Alex Lowe chased down Torpoint's centre half and forced a mistake, to pounce onto the loose ball to score.

Torpoint came into the game more in the second half with Bere's defence having to work hard and their midfield putting in telling tackles. Alex Lowe scored his hat-trick as Richard Marshal threaded a ball through for him to race and score.

Bere Alston's never say die attitude came to the fore when the Torpoint attack finally broke through; Gerald Lake made the save and from the follow up Wayne Smalley robbed Torpoint's forward with the goal gaping.
