EMILY Pascoe from Sampford Spiney, although only 13 years-old, has finished third in the English Shooting Championships (Under 21 class).
The ESSU English Shooting Championships was held at the Lord Roberts building in Bisley in Surrey and brought together the best pistol and rifle shooters from all over the UK — and beyond — to compete in various shooting disciplines.
Emily, who is a pupil at Plymouth College, was competing in the English Junior Under 21 championships and the English Open Championships.
She finished the weekend on the podium in third place in the junior championships and a superb 14th overall in the English Open Championships, an open age group class.
This was a massive achievement for Emily who had moved up to national level and was shooting alongside the very best in the UK for the first time, and was the youngest competitor by more than three years.
Emily has been supported by her local sponsors Active Sport, All About Country and The Game Larder.
Emily will continue to shoot at Okehampton Shooting Club (where British Olympic pistol shooter Georgina Gelkie trained) and the Peninsula Shooting Club in Plymouth; however, she will now also train under England head coach Margret Thomas in Bisley with the England Junior squad!
Having won both Cornwall and South West junior championships Emily now sets her sights on the European junior championships later this year.
