YELVERTON Bohe-mians Cricket Club are delighted with the call up of up and coming player Stephanie Hutchins to the full Devon ladies’ cricket team.
Steph, aged 17 and from Horrabridge, plays her cricket for Yelverton Bohemians where she has been a member for six years coming through the large colts’ section. The talented teenager is a regular for Yelverton seconds, who play in the Devon seconds B West league; she also plays for Plympton ladies.
Steph has been part of the Devon ladies’ development section for three years but has been told that she is now a full member of the squad.
She enjoys all areas of sport and is taking A-level physical education at Tavistock College where she was awarded this year’s student of the year for PE.
Steph has played football for Plympton and Tavistock and is a qualified level eight football referee as well as an Argyle academy referee; however she is now concentrating all here efforts in to her cricket which is her first passion. She has put in consistently good performances achieving bowler of the year for the last two years for Plympton and Devon, as well as player of the year last year. Steph is also currently she is the top wicket taker for her age group, having taken 18 wickets this season.
Chairman Geoff Willcocks said: ’Stephanie is an extremely talented young sportswoman and YBCC have been lucky enough to watch her develop her skills over the years. She is a great role model for the younger members and is already inspiring others to achieve more in their sport. Stephanie is a great advert for investment in our youth by local clubs and YBCC would like to congratulate her for attaining county level recognition.’
Veteran Yelverton Bohemians’ player Chris Cottrell, who plays in the second team alongside Stephanie, added: ‘We at the club are so very proud of Steph’s achievements. She has worked so hard to improve her all round game and we will all follow her cricketing career with great interest. We all wish her well in the full Devon team.’
