Devon seconds D West
THE West Devon weather made life as difficult as possible during this match. The start was delayed and then the visitors won the toss and asked Whitchurch to bat.
The game had already been reduced to 41 overs, when a sharp shower brought proceedings to a halt, with Whitchurch on 26 for 1 off 7. With the rain clouds constantly threatening Credicott looked to get the scoreboard moving and accrue bonus points in quick time.
Two further rain delays meant Whitchurch would only bat 31 overs. Credicott leading the way with 74, with useful contributions from Potts (28) and Marais (56 not out) as Whitchurch posted 187 for 3.
The Cornwood reply suffered some damage. Nathan Ord (2 for 30) struck assisted by a running one handed catch from Potts, while Hall was also in the wickets.
With Cornwood 13-3, Knight and Garland then added 60 for the fourth wicket to keep their side in the game. Another one handed catch, this time from Hall saw Garland depart for 19.
Knight was running out of partners but completed a deserved half century. When he was caught and bowled by Webber (2-15), the chase was up for Cornwood. However, they did manage to bat out the overs and deny Whitchurch maximum bowling points.
