Tavistock seconds v Ipplepen
TAVISTOCK second team entertained Ipplepen seconds at the Ring on Saturday in what proved to be an exciting game with nearly 600 runs scored.
Batting first, Dave Watson had to retire early which brought in Dave Manning who was unable to travel away with the first team. This proved fortunate for the home second team. Manning and Phil Stephens set about the Ipplepen attack, putting on a magnificent 180 for the first wicket.
Stephens scored 84 from 89 balls, before being stumped. Manning continued on his way, plundering a superb 166 not out from 130 balls, hitting 14 fours and 4 sixes, helping the team to 301-2.
Ipplepen made a real fist of achieving the target, King with 72 and Quartley with 42 leading the way. Five Tavistock bowlers each took two wickets to stem the run tide and Ipplepen came up just short at 285 all out. This was a great game of cricket for the spectators to enjoy.
